Bioinformatics Laboratory
At the beginning of the 21st century, the introduction of disruptive technologies for whole genome sequencing, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics together with an ever-increasing computing power are revolutionizing the world of Biosciences. The field is slowly but steadily maturing from qualitative to quantitative. And we are only at the beginning…
Bioinformatics plays a pivotal role in this undergoing transformation/revolution, by providing the methods and tools for manipulating, storing and analyzing this unprecedented cornucopia of data. Its goal is to transform data to information and eventually to knowledge about how biological systems work. The mission of the Bioinformatics lab is to train the new bioscientists with the necessary computational skills and to do basic as well as applied research.
